Moondance Cellars Napa Valley

I began making wine in 2004 as a hobby. As a professional engineer with a chemistry background, winemaking was simply a natural step in my passion for great wines. I enjoy big rich reds, so I make what I enjoy, including Cabs, Bordeaux blends and other red varieties. Our wines are mostly derived from the Oak Knoll District in Napa and Alexander Valley, and we purchase hand selected fruit from a select group of growers, using only the best premium grapes. We produce the wine in very small batches in a boutique winery in San Carlos owned by a friend, watching every step closely. Our wines, produced with my wife Anna, are carefully aged for between 36 and 48 months depending upon the intensity of the fruit so as to balance with the oak. I use exclusively new oak, both French and American. We produce between 80 and 250 cases annually, depending upon the availability of select premium fruit each year.

2013 Moondance Cabernet Sauvignon:

Moondance Cabernet a big rich Cab aged for 46 months in French Oak, derived from the Oak Knoll District of Napa. 2013 featured a long growing season with harvest on October 11. The unseasonal warm finish providing a very rich and balanced wine with a complex finish. Only 48 cases of Moondance Cab were produced in 2013.
